MUZAFFARGARH, Aug 15: A PML-Q senator is willing to support the PML-N in the event of President Pervez Musharraf’s impeachment, it is learnt.

Mian Amjad Abbas Qureshi, a senator of the ex-ruling party, told this correspondent that he would oppose his party in the impeachment move because the president had damaged the country.

He said he and his father Mian Abbas Qureshi, a former MNA, were old associates of the PML-N but they had joined the rival party because of the then government’s pressure.

In the 2002 election when the PML-Q rejected them and gave ticket to Sultan Hinjra, they were bitterly disappointed.

In the 2008 electoral exercise, he said, his brother contested the election against a PPP candidate and lost. suspends: The executive district officer for health on Friday suspended the entire staff of three basic health units (BHUs) in the district.

Speaking to Dawn, EDO (Health) Dr Aqeel Ahmad Khanzada claimed that he paid a surprise visit to the health centres at Thatta Qureshi, Kamalpur and Jaggatpur, where no doctor or paramedics were present.

He suspended from service the entire staff and sent a report to the director-general health for further taking action against the doctors.

He said he had also sent a report on gastroenteritis after his team checked water samples of variousu localities.

He said the team was distributing safe water tablets in each house and at the BHU and RHC level.

He also claimed having sent a report against DHO Ashiq Malik and his staff for not attending their offices in time.

He said he received complaints about the fake medical stores and directed the drug inspector for taking action against the unlicensed medical stores.
