KARACHI, Aug 13: The Mehmoodabad police station lodged a case against former SHO Rahim Tariq on a court order on August 6. However, the police were reluctant to arrest him as he was a police official currently posted in Baloch Colony police station’s investigation section, an applicant told an additional district and sessions court.

Malik Mohammad Ameer filed an application to the court of additional district and sessions judge-IV, south, stating that the former SHO of Mehmoodabad police station, Rahim Tariq, had allegedly asked him to withdraw robbery cases registered against his (the SHO’s) brother. Mr Tairq had allegedly threatened to kill him in case of non-compliance, the applicant said.

He said he approached the police station to lodge a case against the former SHO, but the police refused to do so. In this situation, the applicant said he requested the court to direct the Mehmoodabad police to register an FIR against its former SHO.

Mr Ameer said the police on a court order lodged a case (FIR No 227/2008) under Sections 504 and 506-B of the Pakistan Penal Code against Rahim Tariq though they were reluctant to take any action on it.
