MIANWALI, Aug 11: A pen-down strike by patwaris which is in its second week is causing inconvenience to people seeking various deeds from the revenue department.

The revenue staff on strike includes 210 patwaris and 23 kanoogos. The Registry Office is giving a deserted look these days because required documents cannot be issued without revenue staff.

Talking to Dawn, President of Patwaris’ Associaton, Mianwali chapter, Sadiuqul Hasan demanded improvement in revenue staff pay scales.

He demanded that the old colonial Basta allowance of patwaris be enhanced from Rs5 to Rs200 and Intiqal (transfer) fee be revised from Rs3 to Rs100, besides revision in TA/DA allowance.

He demanded that provincial government must reserve 20 per cent quota for patwaris’ children in naib tehsildar vacancies.

MUZAFFARGARH: Working in local courts has been badly affected due to Revenue staff strike.

Sabir Husain, divisional president of Anjuman Patwarian, said if the government did not accept their demands they would march on Islamabad. —Dawn Report
