HYDERABAD, Aug 9: Common friends are making efforts to solve through an out-of-court settlement a case filed by brutalised policeman Ali Hassan Solangi whose rivals chopped his hands and threw acid on his face after kidnapping him from Hatri police station’s limits on March 24.

Two successive meetings have been held between Noor Mohammad Shoro, taluka nazim of Qasimabad, union council nazim Deedar Shoro and his son Jam Khan Shoro and member of Ali Hassan Solangi’s family on Friday and Saturday.

The meetings were arranged by some common friends but the parties had not so far reached any final decision. The aggrieved party seeks Chandio chieftain’s role in solving the matter as the co-accused belong to Chandio tribe.

Taluka Nazim Khair Mohammad Khokhar, nazim of union council Sawan Khan Gopang Badar Memon and Amin Thebo are playing an important role in helping settle the issue after they were approached by former Tando Allahyar DPO Ghulam Subhani and Shoros, the prime accused in the case lodged by Ali Hassan Solangi’s nephew Jawed Solangi.

The prime accused Noor Mohammad Shoro, Jam Khan Shoro and Deedar Shoro who had been cleared of charges by police and Ali Hassan Solangi have held two meetings at the latter’s house located off National Highway within the jurisdiction of Hatri police station.

“Yes we have meetings but no final decision has so far been made because we insist on intervention of Ghulam Qadir Chandio from Nawabshah to get involved on behalf of other co-accused who belonged to Chandio tribe,” said UC Nazim Badar Memon who is acting as one of the ameens (arbitrator) to decide the case.

Memon made it clear that if the Shoros were not involved in the crime then they should try their level best to expose the real culprits. “The Shoros have agreed that they would ensure that those who are actually involved in the incident stand exposed,” said Memon.

He said that former DPO Ghulam Subhani and the Shoros requested them to intervene in the matter lest the issue lead to a tribal clash between Solangi and Shoro tribes.

The Shoros had undertaken before the court that on the day of incident Jam Khan Shoro had been in Islamabad and they would also produce his friends with whom he had stayed in Islamabad. These people are likely to meet Ali Hassan to speak in Jam’s defence.

Memon claimed that there were reports that some controversy had already existed between Chandio and Solangis tribes and he feared the incident might have been staged by them to put the blame on Shoro. But, he said, it had yet to be decided.
