SIALKOT, Aug 8: Surveillance cameras are being installed at Allama Iqbal Chowk to trace criminals.

District Police Officer Muhammad Ameen told newsmen on Friday that a well-equipped control room had also been set up at the Police Lines to monitor the working of these cameras. He said Rs20 million would be spent on the installation of surveillance cameras in residential, industrial and commercial areas.

He said these cameras could record during rain, windstorm, darkness and even during loadshedding. He said pictures of wanted criminals would be fed in these cameras and they would raise alarm when any of these offenders would pass-by these.

HUMAN TRAFFICKERS: The Federal Investigation Agency has arrested alleged human traffickers Amjad Hafeez, Zahid Husain, Mujahid, Muhammad Boota and Khalid Malik from various areas of the district.

The accused, who were minting money from people who wanted to go abroad, have been put behind bars and cases have been registered against them.

VACANT POSTS: Four posts of deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) are vacant for long. As a result, the police department and complainants are suffering equally.

The posts of Daska, Sambrial, Headquarters and Special Branch DSPs have not been filled by the authorities for the last many years.
