MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 8: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) cabinet members, including advisers to the prime

minister, will also get the 20 per cent raise in their salaries as was announced for the government servants in this year's budget, it was learnt here on Friday.

The raise will take effect from July 1 after a ritual concurrence from the finance department is obtained by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), sources told Dawn.

It may be mentioned here that Section 3(2) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Ministers (Salaries, Allowance and Privileges) (Amendment) Act 2007 says that the ministers and advisers shall be entitled to claim same raise in their salaries as is enhanced for the civil servants in the annual budget.

The S&GAD, sources said, was preparing a summary

to be sent to the finance department in a couple of days for its formal concurrence to the salary raise.—Staff Correspondent
