MADRID, Aug 6: Barcelona’s French striker Thierry Henry, handicapped by a series of injuries last season, said on Wednesday his greatest wish is stay fit for the whole of the coming season.

“The only thing I want is to not get injured,” he said in an interview on the club’s website.

The 30-year-old played several matches last season with back pains.

“Now I have problems in my tendons due to the very hard pitches (in the United States)”, he said in the interview from New York.

Barca play the New York Bulls on Wednesday in their last warm-up match before their Champions qualifying match on August 12 or 13.

Henry joined Barcelona at the end of the 2006/07 season after years of success at Arsenal in the English Premier League but he has struggled to nail down a regular first team place.

The Catalan side meanwhile failed to win a trophy for the second straight year.

Henry also had a miserable Euro 2008, managing just one goal in France’s three matches before they went out in the first round.—AFP
