First practice Match washed out

Published August 6, 2008

LAHORE, Aug 5: The first of three practice matches has been cancelled due to heavy rains at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.

The series of three matches including two 50-fifty and one 20-20 overs-a-side was to be held till Aug 9 to announce the team for the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan in September.

But the overnight rain, which continued intermittently till Tuesday afternoon forced the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to cancel the match as some parts of the ground were flooded.

Later, the PCB announced a fresh schedule of the matches which says: “Due to incessant rains at Lahore the schedule of practice matches has been revised and the remaining two matches will now take place either on Aug 8 and 10 (weather permitting) or Aug 9 and 11 at the Gaddafi Stadium.”
