Two brothers killed during robbery

TAXILA, Aug 5: Two brothers were shot dead while resisting a robbery attempt here at Mohallah Puri on Tuesday.

Waqar, brother of the deceased, told police that they – Iftikhar and Zulfiqar – along with him were sleeping when two masked robbers armed with weapons forced into their house at 2am and held the inmates at gunpoint.

The two brothers tried to overpower the robbers when they were fleeing with the looted valuables.

On this, they opened fire at them. Iftikhar died on the spot, while Zulfiqar succumbed to injuries in the THQ hospital.

The police have registered a case against the accused and started investigations. No arrest was made till filing of this report.

Meanwhile, an assistant sub-inspector of Wah Cantonment police station was shot and injured by an outlaw at Anwar Chowk on Tuesday.

Police claimed ASI Mukhtar along with a constable tried to arrest the accused but he opened fire at them. The ASI was taken to the POF hospital in critical condition with multiple bullet injuries.

The accused escaped from the scene, while the police registered a case against him.
