KARACHI, Aug 4: The Sindh government, in an attempt to control the prices of essential commodities during Ramazan, has asked the city government to provide it with a list of wholesale dealers and retailers within a week.

The provincial government has also chalked out a plan to ensure display of the official price list and for an effective implementation of orders mobile teams of revenue officers will be formed who will be provided with necessary security to carry out their responsibilities without any fear.

These decisions were taken on Monday at a high-level meeting presided over by the Sindh minister for bureau of supplu and prices, Syed Shoaib Bukhari. The meeting was attended by Sindh Agriculture Minister Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and other relevant officials.

The meeting was convened in the backdrop of reports that many market players had become active prior to Ramazan and had started hoarding essential commodities to mint money by creating an artificial shortage of items like pulses, rice, gram, wheat flour, oil, dry milk and sugar etc.

It was decided in the meeting that the mobile teams of relevant officials would remain functional between 2pm to 5pm during the month of Ramazan.
