GUJRANWALA, Aug 2: A district administration team raided a parking lot established in the old municipal corporation building and caught nine people, including a senior clerk of the taxation branch, on charges of collecting parking fee against fake receipts.

On receiving a complaint, DCO Dr Pervaiz Ahmad formed a team consisting of Revenue EDO Nasir Iqbal, Municipal Services EDO Waheed Ahmad and RTA Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Chaudhry to raid the parking lot.

The team caught a senior clerk of the taxation branch and his eight accomplices, fleecing drivers against fake receipts. They were later handed over to the Kotwali police, which registered a case against them.

PROTEST: Members of the Anjuman-i-Patwarian held a demonstration on the premises of the Tehsil Office here on Saturday.

Patwaris and kanoongos demanding upgradation of their scales staged a protest camp and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.

The union leaders urged the government to revise their pay scales along with the enhancement of transport allowance, and said they would continue their protest till their demands were accepted.

CASE: Additional Sessions Judge Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad on Saturday ordered registration of a case against the People’s Colony station house officer (SHO) for not submitting challans in court on time.

The People’s Colony police made a false statement that they had submitted the challans of some drugs cases in court. When the court got the matter investigated, it was found that the police had submitted no challan.

Taking a serious notice of the misstatement, the additional sessions judge ordered police high-ups to register a case against the SHO concerned.
