ISLAMABAD, Aug 1: A meeting to give final touches to the security arrangements for the next month’s ICC Champions Trophy will be held at the Interior Ministry on Saturday, it was officially learnt on Friday.
The meeting will be attended by ICC security consultant Nicholas Stein, chief organiser of the Champions Trophy Ahmed Farooq and additional interior secretary Imtiaz Qadri.
“The meeting will be held to finalise security arrangements,” Ahmed Farooq said, adding that the Champions Trophy would go ahead as per schedule with the opening match on Sept 12 and the final on Sept 28.
The day-night matches of the championship will be held in three cities — Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
“Of course, further boosting, if required, of security at the three venues will also be discussed in the meeting as part of the overall security package,” the chief organiser said.—APP
