KARACHI, Aug 1: Punjab Medical College (PMC), Faisalabad, beat Habib Bank Limited (HBL) 1-0 and National Bank of Pakistan drew with Pak Elektron Limited 1-1 in the two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played simultaneously at the People’s Sports Complex and City District Government Karachi (CDGK) Stadium on Friday evening.

After a barren first half in the PMC and HBL encounter at the People’s Sports Complex, where HBL missed out on several good chances, PMC was finally able to gain superiority over the bankers in the second minute of the second half through their striker Kamran Anwar. The 1-0 score remained so till the final whistle.

Meanwhile, the other match at CDGK saw PEL score first in a confusing episode in the 13th minute. It can also be taken as an own-goal as the ball went into the net after bouncing off NBP’s defender Misbal-ul-Hassan as well as PEL’s striker Muzaffar Ali.

The 1-0 score at interval was equalised in the 84th minute when NBP’s striker Sattar Mansuri successfully converted midfielder Farooq Shah’s pass to him.

Saturday’s fixture: Pak Steel v Pakistan International Airlines at Pak Steel Township Ground, Karachi, at 5.30pm. Karachi Port Trust v Navy at CDGK Stadium, Karachi, at 5.30pm.
