ISLAMABAD, Aug 1: Eleven matches were decided on the opening day of the 7th Freedom Cup Junior Tennis Tournament being played here at the PTF Tennis Complex on Friday.

The Championship is being organised by Islamabad Tennis Association (ITA) in connection with the Independence Day celebrations.

In the day’s first fixture, Syed Wasil Kaleem took the first set on a tie break against Aqil Khan. Aqil came back in the match in the second by winning the set at 6-4.

The match was decided in the final set. Aqil at one stage was leading by 4-1 but Wasil came back in the final set to level the score at four all. Aqil won the set by breaking Wasil’s last game.

Boys U-13 singles: Syed Arzanish bt Jalaluddin Azmat 4-6, 5-6 (retired); Hamza Mazhar bt Talal Almas 6-0, 6-2 and Ibrahim bt Afnan Hasan 6-4, 6-3.

Boy’s U-15 singles: Talal Almas bt Ali Haider 6-0, 6-2 and Ibrahim Imran w/o Jalaluddin Azmat

Boy’s U-17 singles: Aqil Khan bt Syed Wasil Kaleem 6-7, 6-4, 6-4;Jibran ul Haq bt M. Adnan Khan 6-2, 6-0; Bilal w/o Awais Kyani and Zahran Imtiaz bt Saif Ali Khan 6-1, 6-4.Girls U-17 round robin: Meheq Khokhar bt Hemaiel Zoila 6-0, 6-0 and
