Newly-wed girl killed

GUJRANWALA, July 30: A newly-wed girl was shot dead while her husband was injured by their relatives over a court marriage issue in Wazirabad on Wednesday.

Reports said that Tanveer Ahmad of Manzoorabad (Wazirabad) married Lubna of Shadiwal (Gujrat) some six months ago.

On the pretext of reconciliation, Lubna’s family called her and her husband on Wednesday. As the couple reached home, girl's uncle Shaukat Ali fired at them, killing Lubna instantly and injuring her husband. He was shifted to a Lahore hospital in serious condition.

SEIZED: The Civil Defence seized at least 10 bombs and three rocket launchers after raids on furnaces in different parts of the city on Wednesday.

Reports said the Civil Defence received information that some bombs and rocket launchers were included in the scrap purchased in huge quantity by owners of furnaces from the tribal area. —Correspondent
