11 kite-flyers held

LAHORE, July 27: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested 11 people for flying kites with deadly string.

According to a police spokesman, Sabzazar police seized 2,500 kites and string from a house near Madni Mosque, arrested Mazher Elahi and registered a case against him. The police have so far arrested 25 people during its ongoing crackdown on kite flyers over the last seven days.

Separately, Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Pervez Rathore has directed all divisional police superintendents to ensure stern action against the violators and submit to him reports in this regard on a daily basis.

ROBBED: A robber snatched Rs250,000 from a man in Iqbal Town police precincts on Sunday. Wahab was on his way when an armed man intercepted him and deprived him of the money.

Two robbers snatched gold jewellery worth Rs120,000 from a woman in Islampura police precincts. Aneela, wife of Munawar Hussain of Dev Samaj Road, was on her way to a bazaar when two armed motorcyclists deprived her of gold ornaments and fled.

A robber snatched Rs20,000 and a cell phone from one Hafeez in Civil Lines police limits.

Two robbers snatched Rs1,500 and two cell phones from one Wazeer in the limits of Shafiqabad police station.

Two robbers snatched Rs24,000 and a cell phone from one Sajjad in the jurisdiction of Hunjarwal police station.

Two armed bikers deprived two friends of cash and three cell phones totally worth Rs80,000 in the limits of Gulshan-i-Ravi police station.
