CHITRAL, July 27: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Mutasim Billah Shah, during a surprise visit on Sunday, found the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Booni locked as the entire staff including doctors was absent from duty.

According to sources, the DCO has ordered immediate suspension of the absent staffers and directed the executive district officer (health) to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

He warned that no leniency would be shown towards those government employees who showed laxity towards their duties in the health department

RELIEF GOODS: A non-governmental organization (NGO) distributed relief items among families affected by floods in Gaborbakh village on Sunday.

According to a press release, 14 houses were destroyed by a glacier lake outburst on July 13. An early evacuation made by the Focus Humanitarian Assistance (Focus) ensured that no life was lost due to the flooding.

The families received staple food items including flour, rice, sugar, milk powder, cooking oil, pulses, tea leaf, as well as kitchen items and bedding. Local civic authority and community leaders appreciated the efforts of the organisation.
