KOHAT, July 26: Suspected militants early on Saturday attacked the house of a police official in Sheikhan area of Kohat, damaging its boundary wall. However, no casualty was reported, police sources said.

Residents of the area said that they heard two powerful blasts near the house of the police official. The blasts only damaged the boundary wall of his house without causing any loss of human life, they added. According to sources, Doaba police station SHO, Jehangir Khan, had taken an active part in the anti-militant drives including the recently concluded Hangu operation.

The sources said that militants only wanted to send a message to the SHO that he was on their hit list. He had been receiving life threats for the past many days.

Mr Jehangir did not bow down when militants besieged the Doaba police station on the night of July 9, in a bid to take hostage about 70 policemen. He was also instrumental in the arrest of seven militants including a deputy of Baitullah Mehsud on the Hangu-Thall Highway during a routine patrol.—Correspondent
