KHAR, July 24: A tribesman was injured when two mortar shells, fired from Afghanistan, hit a house in Charmang, some 40 kilometres from here on Thursday.
Political administration and local people said that tribesman Islam Gul was critically injured when two mortar shells hit his house at 1pm in Hashim area of Charmang, Bajaur Agency. The shells were fired from the Afghan side of the border partially destroyed the house.
POSTS ATTACKED: Unidentified persons attacked checkposts of Bajaur Levies in Arang and Barkhalozzo areas on Wednesday night.
The attackers also kidnapped Levies personnel identified as Hayatullah Khan from the post. A large number of Levies personnel were present at the post during the attack but only Hayatullah resisted the attackers.
In the second incident Levies checkpost at Government Degree College, Barkhalozzo was attacked with heavy weapons on Wednesday night. The attackers fled after Levies force retaliated. No loss of human life was reported.
POWER OUTAGE: Prolonged loadshedding and frequent power outages were creating hurdles in supply of wheat flour in Bajaur Agency, said Haji Mehbub, managing director of Bajaur Flour Mills at a press conference here on Thursday.
He said there was no shortage of flour in the region but unchecked loadshedding and low voltage was causing hurdles in wheat grinding process. The mills could not produce required quantity of flour due to the continued power breakdown and low voltage, he added.
Mr Mehbub said that government had reduced the wheat grinding quota from two 2000 bags of 100 kilograms to 1,360 bags but the mills was grinding only 7,000 bags of 20 kilograms due to disruption of power supply.
