LAHORE, July 23: DIG (Investigation) Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera has dismissed from service two inspectors on the charges of dishonesty while probing cases and abusing authority.
The officials are: Nishter Colony investigation in-charge (Inspector) Muhammad Ibrahim and City Riawind SHO (Inspector) Muhammad Anwar.
Muhammad Mushtaq, a resident of Mauza Kamahan, submitted an application to the SSP (operations) in which he alleged that Nishter Colony investigation in-charge Muhammad Ibrahim, along with the SHO, harassed and blackmailed him after discharging his case.
“Ibrahim did not investigate the case properly and prepared challan without verifying the record. Moreover, he arrested me and snatched Rs20,000 and detained me illegally,” Mushtaq alleged.
The Kot Lakhpat division SP and Model Town division SP (investigation) conducted inquiries and found the official guilty. Subsequently, the DIG gave him personal hearing and dismissed him when he was satisfied with the version of the inquiry officers.
In the light of a report submitted by the Saddar division SP, which claimed that Inspector Muhammad Anwar, while posted as the City Raiwind SHO, had been found guilty of mis-stating a case to reduce crime intensity and trying to favour an accused, the DIG gave him personal hearing and demoted him from inspector to sub-inspector for five years.
In another case, the DIG dismissed him (Anwar) from service on the charges of torturing Rao Sikandar Hayat and forcibly getting his signature on blank cheques. The SSP (discipline & inspection) also conducted an inquiry and found the allegations true.
