KARACHI, July 22: The Sindh government has allowed up to 10 years relaxation in the maximum age limit for recruitment in government departments, including judiciary.

This was stated by provincial Minister for Law Ayaz Soomro while talking to various delegations in his office on Tuesday.

The delegations drew the minister’s attention to the issue of age limit arguing that thousands of educated youths qualifying for government jobs in various departments were deprived of their right on the grounds of age limit which they crossed only because of the ban on recruitment, which remain in place for more than a decade.

The minister informed them that Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had already directed the chief secretary to allow relaxation in the maximum age for candidates of a government job up to 10 years. He said that the directive was meant for those departments where vacancies were available.

Mr Soomro pointed that 40,000 vacancies were available in various provincial departments and the process of recruitment was under way to provide jobs to youths on a merit basis. He said written tests were made mandatory to ensure transparency of the process.

He said that the relaxation in the maximum age would be applicable to those aspiring for the post of a civil judge.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government has notified posting of additional secretary Khalid Ahmad Gurdezi, presently posted at the camp office, Islamabad, as its representative in the National Disaster Management Authority, Islamabad.
