SHIKARPUR, July 19: Shikarpur police have recovered a married woman, Khalida, a resident of taluka Chabara, district Layyah in Punjab, from the house of Fareed Ahmed in a raid on Issan Shaikh village in the limits of Humayoon police station on Saturday.

Shikarpur DPO Khadim Hussain Rind told journalists at a news conference that police had raided the house in search of dacoits — Zahid and Fareed.

However, the dacoits escaped from the house leaving Khalid behind, who had been imprisoned there.

Police also recovered two shotguns from the house.

The men were wanted by police in many serious cases.

Meanwhile, Khalida told journalists that she was married to Nazeer Arain but her father, Irshad, sold her to Fareed for Rs80,000. Fareed drugged her and brought her to his village, Issan Shakh, where he forcibly married her.

She claimed that Fareed and his friends, Noor Ahmed and Zahid Ahmed, sexually assaulted her several times during the four-month confinement.
