LAHORE, July 16: A consensus is being evolved among the provinces on most of the issues and Kalabagh Dam might also come under discussion among chief ministers, says Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah.

Mr Shah said this while talking to reporters at the residence of Haji Azizur Rehman Chan, a Pakistan People’s Party leader, on Wednesday.

He said Kalabagh Dam would only be undertaken when consensus was achieved on the project, which only time would tell how and when it happened.

He said the four chief ministers and the prime minister had hammered out a consensus strategy to fight poverty and lawlessness in the country and people would soon feel the resulting relief.

Generating 800 megawatt additional electricity in one year was part of the strategy and the country would also start generating over 5,000MW from Thar coal in five years. Once Thar coal power was being used, the country would not only be able to meet its own requirements but also export to other countries, he said.
