LAHORE, July 16: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested a female dancer and four others, seizing a cache of imported liquor worth Rs20.5 million from a house in B-Block of PCSIR Colony and a warehouse in Punjab Housing Society, Sattokatla.
According to a handout issued by a operations police spokesman, Green Town circle supervisory police officer Muhammad Mumtaz received information that a woman, Ayesha, was running a dance club-cum-prostitution den in PCSIR Colony, allegedly visited by proclaimed offenders.
A team led by the SPO raided the spot, arresting four alleged criminals Zubair, Irshaad Kamal, Sheraz and Rasheed Butt and a dancer, Iram. Ayesha, one Asghar Butt, along with an unidentified man and a woman, managed to escape from the spot through a backdoor.
The police seized 60 boxes of imported liquor and a 223-bore rifle from the place.
During interrogation, Rasheed Butt said the owner of the place, Ayesha, had been supplying liquor in posh localities of Lahore and Islamabad for a long time and she was to transport the liquor to Islamabad on Wednesday night.
He further disclosed that a large quantity of liquor was lying in a warehouse situated in Punjab Housing Society in Sattokatla.
The SPO informed the Sadar division SP about the situation who ordered Sattokatla police to raid the warehouse.Officials of Sattokatla and Green Town police raided the place and seized 282 boxes carrying 4,000 bottles of liquor.
The handout claimed the accused, Rasheed Butt, offered Rs162,000 as bribe to the SPO who refused the offer and seized the money as well.
Cases were registered under different sections against the accused as well as alleged absconders.
SSP (operations) Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed announced cash and certificates for the Green Town police team.
