KARACHI, Oct 24: Officers of the Karachi Development Authority are still deprived of their September salary.

According to sources, KDA, which has been facing serious financial constraints for the last two years has, so far, managed to disburse the salaries only among employees up to grade 15, while its grade 16-and-above officers have not yet been paid their September salary although their current month salary would also become due after a week.

Sources said that although the officials had apprised the KDA Director-General about hardships caused due to inordinate delay in the payment of salaries, the latter has not yet managed to resolve the issue.

The officials have demanded of the Sindh Governor, Mohammedmian Soomro and City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, to direct the authorities concerned to ensure disbursement of salaries without further delay.

Meanwhile, officers and employees of the Traffic Engineering Bureau, recently merged into the city government’s transport and communication department, said that although the KDA had been instructed by the city government to continue to pay the TEB officials’ salaries till final arrangements are made, KDA had not yet paid their September salary.

They also complained that the KDA has not allowed them to encash leaves, although the same facility has been allowed to employees of other departments of the KDA.
