KHAIRPUR, July 15: The work of Sindhi short story writer Naseem Kharal should be translated into different languages, including English, to get it recognised at national and international levels, said PPP MNA Nafisa Shah.

Speaking at a ceremony organised by the Sindhi Adabi Sangat to mark Naseem Kharal’s 30th death anniversary, Ms Shah proposed setting up Naseem Kharal trust to research and translate his literary work.

She said the poetry of Shaikh Ayaz failed to get due acknowledgment for want of translation into other languages. Had it been documented in other languages, it must have been nominated for Nobel Prize, she said.

The MNA promised to do whatever she could for setting up Naseem Kharal trust. She said that though she was attached to politics but from inside she will ever remain committed to literature.

Naseem Kharal’s son Faisal Dara Shikoh said his father was a revolutionary writer for he always sought to bring about changes in the society through his writings and never failed to refer to conditions haris lived in, and their well-being.

He complained about the Naseem Kharal Corner at the Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur for being limited to mere announcement. Mukhtiar, Malik, Ayaz Gul, Mumtaz Bukhari and others also spoke on the occasion.—Correspondent
