LAHORE, July 14: Three security officials apparently assessing the security situation in Pakistan ahead of the planned ICC Champions Trophy, to be held in Pakistan in September, were seen at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.

It appears that the officials concerned have been assigned to compile an independent report.

However, neither the board’s officials nor the security personnel themselves were willing to disclose the nature of their mission to the press.

However, it was learnt that one of the persons is a ICC representative while the other two are independent security officials.

The three do not have any official security protocol as they are working independently.

Some players of Australia, England and New Zealand have expressed their reservations over security in Pakistan and are reluctant to take part in the event.

The ICC has been making consistent efforts to keep itself abreast of the security situation

in Pakistan by periodically sending representatives to evaluate the problem.
