SAHIWAL, July 10: Two armed men deprived the owner of a pesticides shop of Rs320,000 in cash at High Street here on Thursday.

Reports said Asif was present in his shop when a man came there and asked about a showcased pesticide product.

Suddenly, the bandit whipped out a pistol and took the owner to an adjacent room.

In the meanwhile, his other accomplice, who was watching this from the outside, entered the shop and drew all the cash from the drawer.

Later, both the dacoits escaped from the scene.

City police have registered a case against the dacoits.

BUDGET: District Nazim Rai Hasan Nawaz on Thursday presented Rs2.7 billion budget for the year 2008-09.

An amount of Rs2.5 billion has been allocated for non- developmental expenditures and only Rs230.73 million for development expenditures.

The budget session was presided over by district naib nazim Malik Faisal Langriyal.

STRIKE: The District Bar Association on Thursday observed a complete strike for showing solidarity with the deposed judges.

Lawyers also held a meeting in the district barroom under the chairmanship of their president Tahir Bashir.

It decided that all bar members would attend the Saturday’s (tomorrow) meeting called by the Lahore Bar Association.
