RAWALPINDI, July 9: Westridge police here on Wednesday booked five persons including a woman for kidnapping a man and keeping him in wrongful confinement on the complaint of an old woman.

According to police, Malik Zafar, Robina and three unknown men were booked under sections 365, 345 and 452 of PPC on the complaint of Zulaikha Bibi after the court directed the police to register the FIR.

In her complaint to the police, the old widow alleged that Zafar and Robina entered her house along with three others and tried to strip her naked but her son Shabir intervened to save her.

She alleged that the accused forcibly took her son with them and kept him in wrongful confinement.

A police official however told Dawn that the son-in-law of the complainant had been declared an absconder by a court of law in Attock after police failed to arrest him in a fraud case.

Attock police had earlier raided the house of Zulaikha and she had grudge against Zafar and others who are complainants in the case against her son-in-law.

Meanwhile a civil judge awarded five years rigorous imprisonment to a man for committing robbery in the limits of Civil Lines Police and directed the convict to pay Rs 1000 as fine and if he failed to pay fine he would undergo 155 days extra imprisonment.

Mohammad Jan was booked in a robbery case by Civil Lines police last year and the stolen things were recovered from him by the police. He was awarded four years jail for robbery and one year for the things recovered from him.

In another case anti-terrorism court ATC-I rejected the bail pleas of a suspected terrorist arrested for his alleged involvement in the case of rocket attack on Aeronautics Complex Kamra early this year.

The court denied bail to Tehseenullah who had submitted that there was no evidence for his involvement in the attack. Attock police had claimed that Tehseen was a suspect in the case.
