Finance minister visits NBP

KARACHI, July 9: Finance Minister Naveed Qamar visited the head office of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) here on Wednesday.

During his meeting with NBP president Syed Ali Raza, the minister highlighted the importance of agriculture finance for economic prosperity and self-sufficiency in food.

The NBP president informed the minister that bank’s financing to agriculture had exceeded Rs43 billion during the last two years.

The bank is offering soft-term loans to the agriculture sector to support its growth in the country, he added.

The meeting discussed measures taken under banking reforms, which placed the country on a sound economic platform.

The minister was informed about various steps taken to upgrade the quality of NBP’s human resource, including induction of 700 quality management trainees, female empowerment programme and bank’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Naveed Qamar also met representatives of the bank’s CBA and officers association.—APP
