Dollar falls

LONDON, July 9: The dollar fell against the euro on Wednesday amid heightened geopolitical tension and ongoing concern about the US economy, traders said.

The European single currency rose to $1.5743 in late London trade on Wednesday, from $1.5664 late on Tuesday.

Against the yen, the dollar fell to 107.12 yen from 107.50.

In London trading late on Wednesday, the euro changed hands at 168.61 yen (168.40), 0.7947 pounds (0.7953) and 1.6224 Swiss francs (1.6193).

The pound was at $1.9814 (1.9693).

On the London Bullion Market, the price of gold rose to $927.25 per ounce from $921 late on Tuesday.—AFP
