KARACHI, July 8: Jalil Khan defeated Abid Ali Akbar in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) in the quarter-final of men’s singles of the Subh-e-Nau National Hard Court tennis championship at the Model Club here on Tuesday.

Nomi Qamar also qualified for semi-finals by overcoming Tanveer Ashiq in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).

Meanwhile, top seed Sara Mansoor and fourth seed Natasha Afridi cruised into the final of ladies singles by overpowering their opponents.

Sara beat Saba Aziz in straight sets while Natasha got upset victory over second seed Ushna Sohail.

Boys’ singles U-17 quarter-finals: S. Zohair Raza bt Adil Kohari 6-1, 6-1; Faizan Khurram bt Abdul Rehman 6-3, 6-4; Omer Shahid bt Faraz Ashraf 6-2, 6-4; Heera Ashiq bt Talha Saeed 6-1, 6-2.

Boys’ singles U-13 semi-finals: Kashan-ul-Haq bt Murad Khan 4-1,5-3; Faraz A. Faiz bt Hassan Shahid 4-0, 4-2.

Ladies singles semi-finals: Sara Mansoor bt Saba Aziz 6-1, 6-4; Natasha Afridi bt Ushna Sohail 6-0, 6-1.
