QUETTA, July 8: Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said that hardcore professional training is key to harnessing the professional skills required to provide a cutting edge to the army.

Addressing officers of the Quetta Garrison here on Tuesday, he said the army would live up to its rich traditions of chivalry and valour which had always been its hallmark. Gen Kayani also visited the Southern Command headquarters where he was given a briefing on operational training and administrative matters.

He also visited the School of Infantry and Tactics.

The COAS was received on arrival here by the Commander of the Southern Command, Lt-Gen Khalid Shamim Wynne.
