Two well-diggers buried alive

KASUR, July 8: Two labourers were buried alive while digging a well here on Tuesday evening in Kulli Sahoo village in Kanganpur police precincts.

Reports said the labourers were digging a well. Suddenly its wall caved in as a result they were buried alive. Later some volunteers retrieved their bodies.

ACCIDENTS: A man was killed while at least 12 others sustained serious injuries in two accidents here on Tuesday.

In the first incident, truck driver Asif lost his life when he failed to control his speeding vehicle (LEX-8273) which overturned near Pattoki bypass. Helper Aslam sustained serious injuries.

In the second incident, motorcyclists Allah Ditta and his pillion rider sustained serious head injuries after their bike collided with a speeding van on Kot Radha Kishen-Changa Manga Road. The van driver could not control his vehicle which overturned, causing injuries to nine passengers, including three women and two children.

The injured were rushed to Changa Manga Hospital.

ARRESTED: Kasur police claimed to have arrested 91 accused, including proclaimed offenders and court absconders, during a general holdup on Monday night, says a handout issued by the DPO office.

During the general holdup, the police arrested 29 POs, 32 court absconders, five drug pushers and 25 for carrying illicit arms. Police also recovered narcotics, the handout said.
