NOWSHERA, July 8: Former interior minister Maj-Gen (retired) Naseerullah Babar has termed the series of explosions in Karachi a reaction to the suicide bombing at Indian embassy in Kabul.

Talking to journalists here on Tuesday, he said that statement of the Mutahidda Quami Movement chief Altaf Hussain had great significance in which he stated that Taliban had entered Karachi and his supporters would not allow them to stay in the city.

He said that Indian agents had carried out series of explosions and there was similarity in the statement of the Afghan government and Altaf Hussain. He said that people of Karachi knew Indian agents, adding such explosions had occurred in the city in 1995.

He said that MQM had launched campaign against Pakhtuns and Punjabis to expel both groups from Karachi. He said that MQM had planned to start drive against Pakhtuns and asked federal government to take notice of the statement of Altaf Hussain.

Regarding price hike in the country, Mr Babar said that government had failed to control prices of daily commodities and urged it to chalk out plan to control inflation.
