PARACHINAR, July 6: Suspected Taliban gunmen opened fire on a passenger coach in the Shehr-i-Nau area of Paktia province of Afghanistan, on Sunday, killing the Afghan driver and injuring two people of the Kurram tribal region.

Sources said that 14 other tribesmen, who were in the coach which was going to the Kurram Agency from Peshawar via Afghanistan, were kidnapped along with the vehicle by the Taliban gunmen. Immediately after the attack, the Afghan National Army cordoned off the area, launched a search for the kidnapped men and arrested over 100 suspects, including at least 10 attackers, and freed the kidnapped tribesmen.

The injured were shifted to a hospital in Shehr-i-Nau and were taken to the Pakistan border after giving them medical treatment, the sources said. People of the Kurram agency have to travel to Peshawar and other parts of Pakistan via Afghanistan.
