LAHORE, July 6: The NWFP has reportedly shown interest in buying two of the five bulletproof vehicles which the Punjab government wants to auction.

The vehicles were bought by the government of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and the present government wanted to auction them along with 879 others it retrieved from all departments.

Official sources informed Dawn on Sunday the government auctioned the last fleet of 160 vehicles to complete the process commenced on June 30. In all 879 vehicles had been sold earning Rs117 million, which would be utilised on development, they said.

A senior official said the five bulletproof vehicles could not be auctioned because of the delay in determining their reserved (base) price. He said besides the NWFP government, a builder and a couple of industrialists had shown their interest in the vehicles. —Intikhab Hanif
