Four drown

GUJRAT, July 4: A woman and her three children met the watery grave when their car plunged into the Upper Jhelum Canal near Saroki, fourteen kilometres from here, on Friday night.

Reports reaching here said a family of Hafizabad district came to a village in Gujrat to see some relatives. On their way back, the car skidded off the narrow strip and fell into the Upper Jhelum Canal.

Surraya Bibi, 45, her two sons Anwarul Haq and Nisarul Haq and daughter Ambreen drowned. The woman’s other son, Israrul Haq, was rescued by the police. Zulqernain, the driver, was missing till last reports came in.

The cause of the accident couldn’t immediately be known. — Correspondent
