KARACHI, July 1: The administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts, Karachi, Justice Khawaja Naveed Ahmed, on Tuesday remanded three suspects in police custody till July 8 in a case pertaining to the kidnap of an industrialist for ransom.

According to the prosecution, the suspects Amir alias Gudoo, Mohammad Khalid and Amir Zia had allegedly kidnapped a factory owner, Sanaullah Abdullah, on June 26 from Site area and demanded a ransom of Rs100 million from the businessman’s family.

Acting on a tip-off, a police party from the Pakistan Bazaar police station conducted a raid on a house in Orangi Town on June 30. After a shootout, the police succeeded in arresting three suspects and recovered the kidnapped businessman from their custody. However, Kashif, Naeem, Taskeen, Imran, and Saleem have been declared absconders in the case.
