Rs1.12bn BZU budget

MULTAN, June 28: The syndicate of the Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) on Saturday passed the annual budget of Rs1.12 billion, with a deficit of Rs170 million, for the fiscal year 2008-09.

The syndicate meeting was chaired by BZU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafarullah Khan.

The university will have an income of Rs959 million from various sources.

The annual salary bill of the university staff is estimated at Rs600 million.

Moreover, the syndicate approved appointment of Prof Dr Robina Tarin as head of the Urdu Department, Prof Dr Akram Rana as head of the Islamic Studies Department and Prof Dr Khalid Jan Baz as head of the Pharmacy Department for three years. The syndicate also approved Khawaja Ghulam Farid Chair under which the university will offer PhD studies programme in Saraiki language and literature. —APP
