ISLAMABAD, June 27: Pre-sident Pervez Musharraf on Friday inaugurated the newly-launched ‘Free Food for the Poor’, initiated by renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi.

Mr Edhi called on the president at Aiwan-e-Sadr and briefed him about the new project. Under the project, free food will be provided to the destitute, orphans and other needy people through the camps being established at the 326-Edhi Centre throughout the country.

The president on the occasion donated Rs100,000 from his pocket and lauded the efforts of Mr Edhi for his services to the needy community, saying that the mission of service to humanity needed no barriers of religion, caste or national boundaries.
