RAWALPINDI June 26: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani has ordered registration of a case against three policemen in Rawalpindi, who have also been placed under suspension for keeping a man in illegal confinement, and separately terminated the services of six head constables in Attock for their misconduct.

Officials told this reporter that a man identified as Kashif Abbasi, a resident of Airport Housing Society Rawalpindi, appeared before the RPO and complained that on June 17 he was picked up by four persons in plainclothes, who introduced themselves as staffers of an intelligence agency.

The complainant said they muffled his face and when the blindfold was removed he found himself at the Airport police station. An ASI accused him of preparing a forged matriculation certificate.

Kashif remained in the police station for two days and got himself released after paying Rs35,000 to the staff.

On the complaint, the RPO directed the SSP concerned to hold an enquiry into the matter. The SSP found out that the allegations were true and he held SI Nazir Ahmad, ASI Muzaffar Iqbal and Constable Sajjad Hussain guilty of illegal confinement and getting gratification.

The RPO placed all the officers under suspension and ordered registration of a criminal case against them.

Our Correspondent Adds: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani terminated the services of six head constables (HCs) of the Attock district police for their bad reputation and links with narcotics smugglers.

A press release issued here on Thursday said the RPO sacked head constables Sardar Bakhsh, Ghulam Safdar and Sheraz Ahmad of Attock Khurd police station and Mamraiz Khan, Zahoor Ahmad and Iftikhar Ahmad of Jand police station with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Attock Fakhar Sultan had directed the in charge Pindigheb City police post, SI Munawar Khan, and head constable Mumtaz to report to the District Police Lines over a complaint lodged against them by a local resident, Adnan Sultan.
