PARACHINAR, June 26: The political authorities of Kurram tribal region arrested 14 tribesmen suspected of involvement in the attack on a food convoy and demolished 12 houses in an operation launched against the attackers here on Thursday.

The administration asked the elders of Pir Qayyum village in Lower Kurram to hand over to it men involved in the attack on the convoy last week otherwise an operation would be launched against them.

On Thursday, the authorities arrested 14 more tribesmen and demolished 12 houses of suspects in the Pir Qayyum village near Sadda.

Meanwhile, tribal elders held a jirga in Parachinar and demanded of the government to take action against the elements involved in the convoy attack. A convoy of trucks carrying food items to Kurram Agency was attacked between Sadda and Pir Qayyum village last week.
