Opposition leaders in the Punjab Assembly said on Tuesday that Chief Minsiter Shahbaz Sharif was no more a member of the house after his fresh election from Rawalpindi.

PML-Q’s Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, nominated as the opposition leader in the provincial assembly by his party, told reporters Shahbaz would now require an amendment to the constitution to become the chief minister for the third time.

Hamid Nasir Chattha said Shahbaz Sharif was not a PA member ‘right now’. He said under the Constitution if one was elected from second seat he lost the first one. He said the PML-N would somehow move to the Supreme Court against the decision of Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification.

The opposition meanwhile continued its camp outside the assembly building to protest against the chair for not nominating the opposition leader.

Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed told reporters when the opposition would demonstrate the required strength, it would get the notification (of the opposition leader).
