KARACHI: Youth killed in attack

KARACHI, June 22: A 32-year-old man was shot dead and two others sustained bullet wounds in an attack at a carom club in Sohrab Goth.

The body and the injured were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where they were identified as Siraj, Zia Dawood and Nasir. Hospital sources said the injured were in a stable condition.

The victims were sitting at a carom club when they were attacked, police said.

The police registered a case against unknown culprits on the complaint of deceased’s brother, Mehboob Ullah.

Two robbers held

Two men posing as policemen were arrested on Saturday night at Sea View.

According to the police, the two imposters carrying fake police identity cards used to rob people. Police said that a mobile van of the Darakhshan police station saw the two men patrolling the area on a motorcycle without the official AK-47 rifles, stopped them and interrogated them about their posting.

However, the two men both in police uniforms failed to give a satisfactory reply, upon which they were taken to the police station for further investigation.

Later, they were identified as Ayaz Mehmood donning an ASI’s uniform and Irfan Ahmed posing as a head constable.

The police recovered fake police identity cards from their possession along with two pistols and a motorcycle, which they had stolen from the Sea View area, SP Clifton Azad Khan said.

It was further revealed that the two men had carried out a number of robberies wearing police uniforms and a number of complainants, who were deprived of their valuable at Sea View, have had also identified the suspects.

Meanwhile, four persons were injured in a collision between a Quetta-bound coach and a coaster carrying picnickers from Gaddani to Karachi on Sunday, PPI adds. The accident occurred near Toll Plaza. Four persons Babar, 28, Babar Rafiq, 25, Imran, 18 and Raees, 45, residents of Liaquatabad, were injured.
