KARACHI, June 18: The Sindh High Court Bar Association on Wednesday expressed its gratitude to civil society, particularly the media and activists of political parties and non-governmental organizations, for making the long march a success.

A meeting of the SHCBA managing committee held under the chairmanship of the association’s president, Rasheed A. Razvi, to take stock of the post-march situation, acknowledged, in particular, the active participation of thousands of ordinary people who braved an extremely hot weather, traversed long distances and waited all along the route of the march from Karachi to Islamabad. The sacrifices of those people would certainly go a long way in changing the norms of governance, the committee noted.

“The overwhelming support of the people demonstrated their faith and belief in the independence of the judiciary in negation of the slogan of ‘roti, kapra aur makan’ and their firm resolve for the restoration of the pre-November 3, 2007, judiciary,” the SHCBA committee stated.
