MIRPURKHAS, June 16: The initial post-mortem report of deceased Ahmed Khan Dal, worker of the Muslim League Functional, killed while in Town police custody, has not mentioned the cause of death clearly.
Civil Surgeon, Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas Dr Roshan Ali Bhatti earlier had setup a medical board comprising Additional Civil Surgeon Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Surgeon Dr Jawahar Lal, Dr Ali Gohar Kalhoro and Dr Mohammad Waris for conducting post-mortem of the deceased.
When contacted Civil Surgeon Dr Roshan Ali Bhatti told that two torture marks were found on the body, however, the cause of death was other than the two bruises on the deceased’s body.
He further said the initial report did not find heart attack and tissues and various x-rays of different parts of the body had been sent to Histopathology Laboratory at Jamshoro to ascertain the cause of death which will take a few days.
After suspension of SHO and other officials, Sub Inspector Mir Mohammad Mangrio had been given the charge of Town police station.
Nazim UC Old Mirpur, Ghulam Mohammad Shah, alias Babu Shah said police committed extra judicial killing of the PML-F worker and demanded justice.
Meanwhile, activists of different civil society organisations and NGOs took out a rally from Railway station Chowk on Monday to protest the death of Ahmed Khan in police custody.
Protesters led by Kanji Ranomal and Wajid Leghari, carrying banners and placards demanded registration of murder case against police personnel. Five-year old daughter of the deceased Ahmed Khan Dal also participated in the rally. They marched on main roads and reached the local press club.
Wajid Leghari and Kanji Ranomal condemned the murder in police custody and accused police of creating law and order problems in rural areas.
They demanded of the government to order judicial inquiry into the matter.
