ISLAMABAD, June 15: Law and Justice Minister Farooq H. Naek on Sunday informed the National Assembly that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had issued directives for payment of salaries to the judges.

He said that the budgetary allocation for the disbursement of salaries to the judges of high courts and the Supreme Court had already been approved by the prime minister.

Speaking on a point of order, he said cheques “are ready for payment without discrimination”.

Earlier, in her speech during the budget debate, Justice (retd) Fakhrunnisa Khokhar said that salaries of the judges of high courts had been paid but the judges of the Supreme Court had not been paid yet.—APP
