LAHORE, June 14: Two people gunned down a businessman and his young son apparently over rivalry in Shadbagh on Saturday. Police said the victims had disputes with some relatives and also with their business partners.
Noor Muhammad, 55-year-old of Yasrab Colony, was running an iron business in Misri Shah. He and his son, Umer, 22, were on their way when two armed motorcyclists intercepted them and later shot at them, killing them on the spot. The assailants fled after ensuring their victims had expired.
According to initial investigations, Umer was also not enjoying a good reputation and had association with the people of bad repute. He used to scuffle with his friends and other people. The family had refused to nominate anybody in the double murder case registered on the complaint of Noor’s another son Muhammad Ahmad with no arrest so far.
KILLED: A watchman of a ghee warehouse died after receiving a bullet on the warehouse premises near Rohi drain in Nishtar Colony on Saturday.
It was yet to be ascertained whether the victim, identified as 55-year-old Abdul Ghafoor, committed suicide or was gunned down by unidentified assailants.
Police, however, registered a murder case on the complaint of victim’s son Farooq.
Another watchman Arshad told police that he heard a gunshot from a distance and when he reached the spot, he found Ghafoor dead with a bullet would in his chest.
Farooq told police that his father was employee of the warehouse for the last eight years.
The police was also suspecting that the victim might have died when his gun went off accidentally while cleaning.
ACCIDENT: A young man was killed while his two sons sustained injuries in a mishap near Ghass Mandi in Shalimar area on Saturday.
The Edhi officials said Ashraf of Bgahbanpura was riding on his motorcycle along with his sons Jameel and Liaqat to the vegetable market when their motorcycle hit an auto-rickshaw.
Ashraf died on the spot, while the injured children were taken to a local hospital.
