Cop injured in clash

KHAIRPUR, May 2: A police constable was injured in a clash between the Gopang tribesmen and the police when the latter tried to arrest an accused in Mumtaz Colony here on Thursday.

The police said Mohammad Panah Gopang was wanted in a criminal case and when the police tried to arrest him, the Gopang tribesmen attacked the police party and injured Pir Bux.

According to witnesses, after the clash, the police reportedly arrested some ladies and children and took them to the police station.

The “A” section police registered a case against Mohammad Panah, Jam, Jan Mohammad, Khadim, Haneef, Shaman, Munawar and Mohammad Suleman.

HESCO: The in charge, SDO, Hesco, Luqman sub-division, Nawaz Metlo, told newsmen that due to the arrears of Rs800,000 against two connections of the Khairpur Civil Hospital, the electricity of the doctors colony, staff colony and nursing hostel had been disconnected.

He further told that the power connection of the executive engineer, irrigation, east and west division offices, district officer, buildings, works, communication office and staff colony had also been disconnected due to the non-payment of dues.
